A Short Note From Our Founder

I just had to write a short note to explain the loud celebrating you may have heard from us on April 2nd.

When I dreamed up the Center for Parental Leave Leadership (CPLL) while living in NYC over 9 years ago, the idea of paid leave was a goal, but one I was repeatedly told I was crazy to work for – that it would never happen in my lifetime.

But I didn’t listen and one by one we all started to find each other. Soon a nationwide (and even international) tribe of fellow crazy ladies with their own parental leave goals — and an ever increasing number of men — began to form.

And like all movements, with greater numbers great things can be accomplished. Yesterday we all got to laugh and cry and jump for joy as New York State passed the most comprehensive paid family leave bill in our country to date!

For us this is historic and awe inspiring beyond measure, for the women working for this for 30+ years — we humbly give our full and complete gratitude. And to New York State and the groups and individuals working around the clock to make this happen, we say, “Thank you, thank you!” and offer our sincere CONGRATULATIONS (!!!!!).

Way to ‪#‎leadonleave‬ and show our country where we are clearly heading.

Simply awesome.
